Background
NHS Wales Informatics Service (NWIS) was established in 2010 with responsibility for the development and support of the health and care technology used throughout Wales.
The Requirement
NWIS plan to introduce a standard clinical terminology: SNOMED CT (Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine - Clinical Terms), to enable the integration of care records across Welsh healthcare systems and clinicians, whilst safeguarding records’ clinical meaning. They needed external expert assistance to help their in-house Data Standards team define and deliver a coherent plan for the implementation of SNOMED CT across Wales, so an Invitation to Tender was issued under Crown Commercial Services’ ConsultancyOne framework, RM1502.
Our Success
NWIS selected Bramble Hub and Monmouth Partners to provide the expert support needed to enable NWIS Data Standards to lead SNOMED CT implementation across Wales. The decision was based on past experience of the consultants.
