Background
The Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem), supporting the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (GEMA), is the government regulator for the electricity and downstream natural gas markets in Great Britain.
The Requirement
Ofgem are required to establish a new, legally separate electricity system operator within the National Grid to enable more competition, coordination and innovation across the system. In order to achieve this, the existing SAP enterprise system must be modified to separate out the relevant data relating to the new operator company. OFGEM issued an RFP for ‘Consultancy support to review SAP enterprise system separation costs for business separation’ under Crown Commercial Service’s Enterprise Application Support Services Framework, RM1032.
